I was looking at these older photos of Avery and they were just so cute I had to post them. Where have the days gone? My child is definitely growing up way to fast.

Memories

Well I was going through my pictures and found these from last spring. These last couple of years Matt and I play Coed softball together and it is so much fun. Unfortunately I will have to sit out a season.....due to our family addition. I am kind of bummed out about it. Softball is a blast...although I am not very good and so far every season I get pretty torn up. I have never played a sport that has given so many injuries.......but they are worth it.....I have a great time.
This made shaving my legs a little tricky:)

Easter

Happy Easter!
New Easter dress her Grandma Butler gave her and the sweater was from her Nana Nelson. Thanks mom and grandma.....she looked so cute.
We went to Gooding this weekend for Easter. We had a great time with my family and as usual they food was amazing. Avery got to go to an Easter Egg hunt they had in town. My Dad was so cute he was helping with the set up and when we got there he gave us our plan of attack.....he had a strategy of course......and it paid off. Avery ended up finding both the golden eggs that had the cash prizes. We felt bad that we had found both the big prizes so we gave one of the eggs to another family. The prize eggs were rolled in tin foil and Avery kept trying to throw them out of her basket because they were not as pretty as the other eggs. In the end she went home with some chocolate and was 50 dollars richer.

I was just happy to see some green grass and be in warmer weather. Last year at Easter we spent it at home in Tetonia where there was still 2 feet of snow. Ya it is not as much fun trying to find eggs in the freezing cold.

Yep it is official

So Matt and I are expecting our 2nd child. The due date is October 28th. We are pretty excited...especially Avery. She was the one that told most people. I found out I was pregnant when I was at state basketball. The day I found out we had a game and I felt pretty sick and had to keep running to the bathroom during the game. Ya I am sure people thought I was pretty weird. So I had to tell my fellow coaches to explain why I was acting so weird....anyway after that the word got out and my team were really the first people to know.

I am finally coming out of the sickness stage....and feeling a little better. We had our first doctor appointment last week and we got to have our first ultrasound. Avery saw the baby and called it a SeaMonkey. Usually when we ask her if she thinks the baby will be a girl or a boy she usually says "uhmmm I think it will be a puppy."

Updates

Well things have been pretty busy around our house. I am still missing basketball but have decided to start some projects....so that I feel somewhat busy. Matt has been very busy with work....and is gearing up for the upcoming softball season. Going to his games will be our new entertainment for the next couple months. We got him all set up with new gear this year, mostly because he lost half of it last year. He got a nice new glove he got himself for his birthday and I surprised him with a new bat bag. So it should be a fun season:)

Avery has been keeping me pretty busy. For those of you who know her.....she is a handful. She really has a mind of her own and sometimes I feel like I am already dealing with a teenager.

Avery does not let me dress her anymore and when I try to pick her out an outfit it is way to much drama....which she is full of.....Sundays are the worst. I want her to wear a normal dress and she wants to wear some dress up costume, pants or her sneakers with her dress. The other day we went shopping and she wore striped tights a skirt, a striped shirt, a striped jacket and striped shoes. It did not match at all. Oh well.

Avery has been saying a lot of funny things lately and some not so funny....

Avery: Mom Jake and I are getting married (Jake is her come and go make believe friend)
Avery: Wow I tell you what....wow! (this is form the movie Anastasia, she always quotes the silly little bat character)
Avery: Mom you can not play with me anymore! (this is what she says when she gets mad at me, then she does this fake dramatic whimper and runs out of the room....I think she has watched too many movies.)
Avery: Oh mom that shirts looks way cute on you! Oh mom your ponytail looks pretty! (she is the only one to notice when I get new clothes or I actually put on real clothes.

All in all she is a funny girl and even though she never stops running around she has been such a joy in my life. I look at her now and I don't see my baby anymore. Especially today....she has been invited to a friends house for the first time. She is so excited and I am so nervous. I really hope she behaves and all goes well....mostly so they will invite her back....because I have never seen her so excited about something.

She loves to dress up. She changes her clothes like 5 times a day.
My goofy girl. She loves to play with her cousin Morgan mostly because Morgan is the only one that Avery can boss around. She is like Avery's big dolly....although Morgan hates Avery touching her and being in her space and screams to the top of her lungs. So needless to say my house is full of screaming girls most of the day.

Teton Girls Going to STATE!!!!!

This year I have been helping coach the Teton girls varsity basketball. I have loved it so much!!!! These girls are great! We have had a long season. With a season of close games. We ended up getting second in our district. We barely beat Shelley.....who were the State Champs last year. In the last few seconds they fouled Laurel....our pressure player and she swished both foul shots. There was not enough time left for Shelly to get a shot off. Then we played Sugar for the district championship. We were expected to get killed....but we ended loosing only by 6 points. Sugar will most likely be the State champs of our district.....they are good!

So then we had to play a play off game with Marsh Valley to see who would go to state. It was such a close game....and our girls struggled the whole game....making it closer then it should have been. We were tied with 8 seconds to go and our girls played great defense. Our girls trapped them on the inbound and they had to make a risky pass. Laurel tipped it away and then with 1.4 seconds left she got control of the ball and threw up an unbalanced sideways shot.....and she swished it! It was amazing the crowd flooded the floor in excitement. After this game I am pretty sure I have terminal heart failure. It was just way too close and there were a few moments where I thought our dream of state was crushed.

This is the first time our girls have gone to state in 13 years! We will head off to Boise on Wednesday and our first game is against Kimberly on Thursday.

The Danger of Naps

So a few weeks ago I was feeling pretty sick. But since Mom's don't get sick days I just had to get through it. I also happened to be watching Matt's cousin Morgan, who loves to follow Avery around and is the object of her torment. Anway...this particular morning they seemed to be getting along great and since they had been playing in Avery's room I thought it would be safe enough to lay down for a few minutes. Well fifteen minutes later these two girls come running into my room giggling and soaked from the waist down.

My first thought was that they had been playing with the sink....but as I walked into the bathroom I didn't hear any water running....but as I stepped in my socks became completely soaked. I looked at the toilet which was overflowing. Apparently the girls had unrolled a whole role of toilet paper and tried to flush it down the toilet. The whole floor was soaked....including floor mats and clothes that were on the floor along with chunks of wet toilet paper that had escaped the toilet. Now toilet water I can handle....but wet toilet paper I cannot. I have this strange phobia of wet toilet paper....it grosses me out.....so with my flooded bathroom, my toilet water soaked girls, and my phobia of wet toilet paper.....I decided that a 15 minute nap was not worth this.

Avery's First Real Haircut

Avery and I had a girls day and went to get our hair done. She watched me get mine highlighted and laughed at how silly I looked. When it was her turn to step up into the chair she freaked out. She cried and kept trying to jump out off the chair. So I had to hold her....which made things pretty difficult. Needless to say I had to fix her hair when we came home. But we did end up talking 2-3 inches of. So the experience did not turn out the way I thought it would....I guess I will be cutting her hair till she is old enough to realize that cutting your hair off doesn't really hurt.

Avery.....and the "Tales of the Silliest Girl I Know"

So this is just a documentation of how long Avery's hair is getting. I am planning on setting up a day where both she and I will go to get our hair cut. I don't want to cut too much off hers.....because I love her long hair...I just want us to have a fun girls day...and I think she would have a blast getting pretty at the "Sun Shack".....that's where I get my hair cut:)
So I thought I would write down this little story about Avery. For those of you who know her, she is a pretty silly girl. She is always doing things and saying things...that crack me up. Well Avery is being potty trained and she is pretty good and rarely has accidents. She loves being a big girl and wearing her panties. Matt and I have tried really hard at giving her positive reinforcement when she goes potty. Well yesterday I was getting ready to go to a meeting and I had to run to the bathroom. Of course Avery followed me in. She heard me going "potty" and got a big smile on her face and said, "Mommy you did it! I am so proud of you! High Five!" Then she proceeded to give me a high five. Then she asked me, "Mommy you need me to wipe you?" I told her thanks but I could do it on my own. She then said, "alright but if you need my help let me know." Then she gave me a big hug and asked if I needed help pulling up my panties.

It is funny how your kids tend to emulate the things you say and do. At age two she understands giving compliments and how to make her mommy smile. We were eating dinner the other day and she takes a bite of her taco and says "yummy food mama....high five!" Then she gave me a high five and a headbutt....because that is what Matt has taught her. You give a high five, rocks, and then a headbutt. It is kind of silly and probably something she should not do around smaller children...for their safety.....but it's Matt's and her thing....so I just let it go.......and hope that some parent doesn't call me saying she gave their kid a concussion in nursery because she headbutted them.

So I had to make a temple for our primary bulletin board. This was my last project and I think I am done for awhile. This is the Rexburg temple by the way....My goal was that it would at least kind of resembled a temple...I put the Angel Moroni on top so maybe that will help the kids recognize what it is.

Projects

This Christmas break I found myself with a little more time then usual. It was nice to have a little break from coaching....so I started on some projects. For Avery's room I redid her dresser. I saw a friend had redid her daughters dresser and posted the pictures on her blog and I loved how she did it so I tried it...it was a fun little project....although the pictures didn't really turn out that well. I found the wooden letters at the thrift store and I painted them to kind of match her dresser.



While we were snowed in on Christmas day I made Avery a little skirt to go with her new tights that Santa brought her. She loves to wear her skirt and tights....she asks to wear it every day.

Christmas

Santa brought Avery this desk. She was pretty excited about it and she loved to sit at her desk and draw.

Avery loved opening presents and she was so excited that Santa would bring her all these little treasures. Out of all her presents her favorites were the gum and chap stick she got in her stocking! This made me realize that sometimes the simplest and smallest things are the best.
We were not very good about taking pictures this Christmas but we really had a great time. We were planning on going to Gooding Christmas day to be with my family...but we got snowed in so we battled the weather the next day and made the trip. We had a great time seeing my family and Avery loved having her Aunt's around to give her lots of attention.

Matt's Buck

Matt finally got his buck.....well sort of. It was actually hit by a car first and he saw it on the side of the rode injured.....so he did what any good citizen would....he called the fish and game and got permission to shoot it. The cars that were driving by slowed down to see why this crazy guy was by the rode with his gun.....probably thought he was one of those crazy terrorists:) Anyway Matt got it all cut up and gave the meat away and was hoping he would get to keep the horns .....but after all his hard work the fish and game called him and told him he couldn't keep the horns....oh well:)

Ryan's Wedding

Matt's cousin Ryan got married and Avery loved helping clean up. Her veil was part of the decorations and she put it on her head and pretended she was a little bride. She would walk around the gym really slow and wave at people as they walked by....pretty cute.
